I just found out that Wes Craven died of brain cancer. If you were like me and grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and didn’t get saved until after 9/11, you will recognize the name. He is the creator of the Nightmare on Elm Street Movies and the Scream movies.
Now when I hear about a celebrity’s death, I don’t get excited. God does not delight in the death of the wicked, and those are God’s words. Without God I would be just as wicked or worse. I am not better, just better off.
A friend of mine wrote the following, and this is what prompted me to write a brief article.
“Horror movie guru Wes Craven was given a great gift at an early age, a chance to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Many might be shocked to know that he attended Wheaton, one of the premier Christian colleges in America. But according to his own testimony, Craven rejected the salvation offered by Jesus Christ, and instead chose to spend his life giving glory to the things of the Devil through his acclaimed body of work in the horror film genre.
Now, his life is over, and he has gone from this life to the next. A life that by his own choice does not include Jesus Christ, Heaven or anything connected with God.
Now he knows the terrible mistake he made giving up Jesus Christ in exchange for Hollywood fame and fortune.

When I hear about someone dying, famous or not, it saddens me because had they known now what they didn’t know then, they would have lived a different life. Salvation is really about giving up your life.
I love Jesus more than my life. That love started with Jesus and I can’t take credit for that, but I would say all I did was respond to the light God gave me and be always willing to WANT TRUTH MORE THAN I WANTED TO STAY RIGHT. I understand this life will be over in a blink of an eye, and eternity will never end. Jesus never makes you regret giving your life to Him. And when you start to see HIS LOVE FOR YOU, and FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM, it is easy to turn your back on your way, your old life, your old sinful lifestyle, your old love for the pleasures of this world. YOU JUST HAVE TO Be WILLING TO GIVE UP YOUR LIFE.
And receive HIS. It takes a bit of faith and humility.
It breaks my heart that no matter what I say, or no matter how wonderful I can show you that HE IS, that so few WANT HIM!!!!!
Many today think they have their eternity settled because they prayed a prayer or recited some magical words, yet spent the rest of their lives LIVING FOR THEMSELVES. That doesn’t make sense to me.
At the end of September, the Pope is coming to Philly Pa. If you are even a nominal Catholic, and met the Pope 20 years ago, you will still remember the details. How can I believe a nominal Christian who claims to be saved —which means they MET THE KING OF KINGS WHEN THEY RECEIVED JESUS CHIRST — yet they don’t know anything about him? Nor have much desire to?
How can you expect eternity in HEAVEN, where we worship GOD FOR ALL ETERNITY, if you REJECT OR NEGLECT THE ONE WHO CREATED ETERNITY???? Salvation is a person, not a one-time prayer that lets you keep your life!!!!!
Here is what I wrote to a follow up reply that someone wrote that perhaps Mr. Craven made a last second profession.
Please don’t wait for the 11th hour to get right with God. You might die at 10:30.
I wouldn’t count on a death bed profession. Yes, you can find one or more in the bible, ie, the Thief on the Cross, but the point is this was his first clear encounter with Jesus Christ. There is not a lot of hope for someone who has bent his whole life toward hell and then expects in one last second to find a loop hole and want to be saved. Salvation is not in our time when we feel like it. I know the bible says WHOSEVER but there comes a time when God won’t hear someone’s vain words.
Without the conviction of the Holy Ghost, there is no conversion. There is not much hope that Wes made it in by the skin of his teeth. God is merciful, but God will not be mocked.
Further, ETERNITY IN HEAVEN IS FOREVER WORSHIPPING JESUS CHRIST. HOW CAN SOMEONE who wanted to exalt the devil his whole life want anything to do with JESUS? Anything is possible with God but JESUS will never push against a man’s will — no matter what a Calvinist says.
