Just another “Coincidence”

I have heard it said that coincidences are when God wants to remain anonymous. Had an amazing coincidence yesterday.

I had been praying for service on Saturday and when I start praying more, I start to see God deal with my selfishness and I start getting a burden and compassion for people. I need wisdom how to stay there, but anyway, things already over the past few days have seemed to be more alive and vibrant, in regards to my walk with God. I don’t think He moves ever, but we can drift away and not even realize it.

I am encouraged because I am starting to see those little gentle nudges where God is just seeming to say to me, “Mike relax, enjoy the ride. I know where I am taking us.” I have found when I let God drive I still want to be the back-seat driver, so in a spiritual sense I try to do what Old time Pastor Paris Reidhead said to do — he said if you really want the power of God on your life, you need to get out of the car, hand the keys over to the Lord Jesus, get in the trunk, and through the keyhole whisper, “Lord, you drive. And fill it up with whatever you want.”

Yesterday, the Pastor stood up to preach and I opened my bible. You rarely start with Proverbs on Sunday morning, but here I was with my bible open to Proverbs. I started scanning my bible before he started preaching.

Then he announced his text — from Proverbs 18.

And guess which Proverbs I “just happened” to flip open to?

Jesus is reminding us all, I would say, that this is a relationship, not a religion. With the true and living God.
