Just let it….

If you just look at 3 popular song titles (ignoring the actual music and lyrics) you have a good recipe for how to live a life that is victorious, from a Biblical stand point.

These 3 titles are:
1)  Let it Be.
2)  Let it Go.
3) Let it Snow.

First let it be.  God is in control and Jesus Christ made this universe, which gives him the right to tell us how to come to him.  Jesus says, Look unto me.  Come unto me.  Call unto me.  I am the way, the truth and the life.

We can ignore that fact and make up our own rules to get to God (which really is what religion does) but if that is silly in real life, it is that much more dangerous to risk eternity over whether what you believed was the truth.

Example:  If my owner’s manual says to put in diesel fuel in my vehicle and I pour kool aid in since I think that sounds more reasonable and convenient, I will suffer the consequences.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men (the Lord Jesus Christ), whereby we must be saved.

Second is to let it go.  What?  IT!  Whatever it is for you.  Bitterness, fear, anger, rejection.  The past.  Our failures, futilities, frustrations, forbidden fruit, and for us guys football perhaps.  (Easier for me today as the Bills lost!!!!)

Luke 9:62 says, And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

We need to make up our minds.  We can devote our lives and let our hearts go after our American idols or we can have that same devotion and passion for the true and living God.

Finally, let it snow.  In the storm we can panic and fret the entire time, or we can make some hot cocoa, and snow angels, and stay awhile.

We can get upset over the things that come our way that cause us to be delayed or instead rest a while.  Or we can see God’s hand and God’s leading and orchestrating.  He maketh me lie down in green pastures says Psalm 23.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path says, um, the word!   It is like navigating in the woods on a moonless night, with a flashlight though, and why we try to find quicker ways out of the darkness.  You can only see the next step or two.

This keeps us dependent on God and looking to Him.

Hebrews 12:2 says Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

So the next time you wonder what is going on, try letting God be God. Let it be.  Let it Go. And after you do those two, you can say ok, God, I trust you so just let it snow.
