Christ the Cure

“And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.”  — Luke 5:31

I was ready to charge hell with a squirt gun yesterday after our Missions Conference, so I handed a  tract to to a young man walking out of the coffee shop that shares our church parking lot.  After a friendly introduction and giving him a tract, he mentioned he wasn’t really religious.

I explained, “I understand.  I wasn’t interested in the things of God until about 10 years ago.”  But I said, “Think of it like this. If I had a cure for cancer in my pocket and offered it to you, would you be interested? I would say NO, because you’re not sick at the moment. That is how Jesus works. God gave us the commandments to show why we need Him. Ever told a lie? Stolen? Lust is adultery and hatred is murder by God’s standard.”   He left thankful I had taken the time to explain why he needed Jesus.

Jesus is the cure, once you understand the disease.  The problem of modern evangelism is we often push a cure on a world unconvinced of the disease.

May I encourage you to take advantage of the “Law” when you witness?  Romans 7:7 says Nay, I had NOT KNOWN SIN, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

And If you are saved, see you really are a Missionary everywhere you go.
