When I am at any fast food restaurant, I often will hand the worker a tract, and if they are puzzled, ask, “Ever hear of a Burger King Christian?” They will say no and I will explain that in life the Burger King Christian wants to have it their way.
But true Christians want it God’s way.
Jesus said if any man come after me, let him deny himself.
In God’s economy, to get you have to give. To live you have to die, to self. To find your life you must lose your life.
And to go to heaven, you must see you deserve hell.
The problem is we think we are good as is. But let’s go back to my McExample.
“When you look at a Big Mac, how do you know someone made it?”
Would you agree that a Big Mac demands a Big Mac Maker? If you went to school in America somewhere, odds are that “your school” tried to teach you evolution, which is like saying an explosion in the kitchen produced that burger.
Then I can explain that if my order was messed up — no pickels or onions or a seasame seed bun — I don’t ask the Burger King Manager to fix my Big Mac. Likewise you can’t just go to any God to fix your heart problem. This is where you must see you are not a heaven-deserving better than so-and-so good-person. Yes, you might not have robbed a bank, or killed anyone, but why do you think that makes you deserve Heaven?
Look to your conscience and the law here for how wicked your heart really is. Jesus said to look with lust is the same as committing adultery, that hatred is murder, and one lie makes you are a liar. The bible says all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.
Do you see you need JESUS, the God of the Bible?
He is 100% God and 100% sinless. He could have stayed in the ivory palaces and in the beauties of heaven. Instead He humbled himself and became a man, born to die. Why won’t you humble yourself and accept that you need Him?
You can get to know the God of the Universe personally. Americans would give anything to have their favorite hollywood or NFL star move in their house for a month. Yet these stars won’t give them the time of day. But here God will move into your dirty, selfish heart once you get off the throne. To me, it is unbelievable God would do this. And even more unbelievable that humans aren’t even impressed or in awe of that.
When I go to Dollar General, I will often ask how they like working there. Then I will ask if they met the Dollar General. I will say, “You may never know if the Dollar General exists, but you can know God exists for sure. Jesus is God. He becomes real when you make Him your God.” Then I hand them a tract.
Someone recently mentioned that when something is free they have their doubts. You might have heard there is no such thing as a free lunch. The one exception might be biblical salvation, but even that has a cost none of us can pay.
Salvation is FREE but it came at the COST of JESUS’, creator of heaven and the earth, DEATH on the Cross. HE died for you. He is God, sinless, and so death could not hold Him. Jesus rose again, and the resurrection is a very reasonable event to believe in when you see the evidence.
1) there were over 500 witnesses of Jesus alive after the Cross. Paul reported this when many of them were still living. Basically Paul is saying, “Don’t believe me? Just go ask them!”
2) the conversion of the Apostle Paul who met the risen Jesus and went from persecutor of Christians to writer of most of the new Testament.
3) the changed lives of people over the last 2,000 years who testify that Jesus Christ completely changed their lives. That is my testimony. I know I had a head on collision with the God of the Universe 14 years ago and my life has never ever been the same. This is something no religion can offer.
4) The actions of the disciples who were scattered and scared when Jesus died, yet something happened to them a short term later that all had them willing to go to their deaths over the fact they saw the resurrected Christ. People will die for a lie, but not when they know it’s a lie. The disciples were in perfect position to know 100% if Jesus really died and was alive after.
Salvation is PLUS nothing MINUS nothing, for the GIFT of God is eternal life through JESUS Christ our Lord. Religion says you have to earn it.
IF you could earn it, why did Jesus have to die? Salvation is simply something you RECEIVE.
It simply takes
1) a child like faith in the right object, JESUS. not amazing faith in a religion or hoping you are right or good enough. It is not so much how MUCH you believe, but WHO or what you are you trusting in.
2) trusting that every thing we reach to to get through life can be met much, much better by Jesus Christ (When you are stressed out and had a hard day what do you do/take/reach to instead of letting Jesus meet that need?) You are not turning over a new leaf, but becoming a new creature. This is repentance.
New desires, new direction, new destiny.
3). humility to admit God is right, we are wrong.
Are you saved? What are you waiting for?
Don’t be a Burger King Christian any longer!
