I had taken my shoes off as my heals are quite sore. And then I put my foot down, literally, and stepped straight on a staple sending it deep in my heal.
It hurt. I wouldn’t volunteer to have another one implanted. And while I might take a staple in my foot in place of one of my children, I would not offer my foot to my enemies.
God wants to give you an object lesson at my expense. How much more pain did Jesus experience just from being pierced in his hands or feet?
There is a word to describe pain beyond what we can comprehend. It is called EXCRUCIATING. I had heard it literally meant out of the cross, and I had heard that the pain Jesus experienced was so unlike what anyone else had ever experienced that they had to invent that new word. I googled this word and it did confirm what I had read about it a long time ago learning about the death of Jesus from an autopsy view point.
Per google,
The word excruciating comes from Latin excruciare, from cruciare, to crucify. It means unbearably painful, or extreme agony. The word excruciating originates from crucifixion i.e. “a pain like the pain of crucifixion”. Crucifixion is the most painful torture ever invented. It was invented by the Persians in 300 BC, and perfected by the Romans in 100 BC. Jesus was crucified and after his crucifixion this word ”excruciating” mainly came into existence.
Crucifixion is a medical catastrophe.
The muscles of victim’s legs were made to bend at 45 degrees so they used to become extremely fatigued, in severe cramp, and in an anatomically compromised position. The crucified victim was physiologically forced to move up and down the cross, a distance of about 12 inches, in order to breathe. The process of respiration caused excruciating pain, mixed with the absolute terror of asphyxiation. There was increasing dislocation of wrists, elbows and shoulders, and further elevation chest wall would make breathing more and more difficult. The person would become severely dyspnoeic (short of breath).
Physiological reflexes demanded deeper breaths. The body would become starved of oxygen with greater amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. It would result in tachycardia. Fluctuations in blood pressure and dehydration would lead to heart and lung failure.
Thus crucifixion was the most painful death that could ever be given to anyone. The process of inflicting such extreme pain became synonymous with crucifixion and adverse pain due to it started to be known as excruciating pain!

The Bible said Jesus became sin, that he laid down his life and commended his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Jesus is all knowing, had created the universe before coming down in human form, made the sun out of nothing, and has the power to cast people into hell. Yet on the other side is his love and mercy. These merge at the Cross. You broke the laws of God, and Jesus took your death and hell sentence to the Cross for You.
What killed JESUS? Ultimately the sin that causes us to die. He never sinned so He did not stay dead. What sin? Our sin. My Sin. your sin. Who killed Jesus? You and me.
Yet He is there waiting for you.
I love singing this when I am on the streets. If you recognize the song, I had changed some of the Wording.
Look to Jesus, be not ashamed, look to Jesus, call upon His name. For he loved you on a rugged cross, his arms nailed open wide. Look to Jesus, He’s waiting by your side.
Jesus is asking, What more could I have done?
