The problem with Christians in America is we don’t associate with the Jesus of the bible and in America you can “follow Christ” without the reproach of the Cross. The Bible promises for the believer that you will suffer persecution, temptation, and tribulation to follow Jesus. The churches of America have made this an exemption. And worse, they imply that if you suffer these things you are doing something wrong. Marvel not if the world hates you. If everyone loves our version of Christianity, something is wrong according to the Book. It should be a concern if someone claims to be a Christian, is hit with the truth of God’s word, and then they prove they don’t care what the bible says.
Isaiah 8:20 says, To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Leonard Ravenhill said “there is no cost to being a Christian in America. NONE!” I heard someone say that the problem is in America, we are Americans first and Christians second. if we actually want good examples of what Christians are supposed to be, it is hard pressed to look around America to see biblical examples. Jesus always in the past transformed a culture and we that are saved are part of a heavenly country. i don’t have all the answers but these thoughts popped in my head and heart. one problem today is we really seem to have this delusion that we can live unchanged in this life and magically expect heaven in the next.
A Canadian Pastor said that God often raises up (or allows) things in the world to wake up the church and get us to repent. for example, he said God raised up Hollywood because the church is filled with Actors. I think in general if we want to look for examples of what true American Christians are supposed to be, I think you would have to look outside the “church of America” and could better look at the separation of the Amish (despite their false religious salvation by works), the unity and identity of the homosexuals (despite their perversion), and the unflinching unashamed loyalty of the Muslims (despite their false moon god idol) as better examples of what the American church is supposed to be in a Biblical sense.
We obviously don’t agree with their lifestyles, but they clearly unashamed stand out and they don’t apologize for who they are. we however claim to love Jesus but our actions of our country prove we care more about our American idols and we prove we are ashamed by the gospel of Christ. it is a sad day where we can find more to praise the “homosexuals of America” about than the “church of America”.
Christians are disgusted at homosexuals, and yes we should be, but we need to see how much “we” disgust God as well by our “lifestyle”. based on how Jesus treated sinners and how he treated pharisees, “we” might disgust God even more. Wake up America!!!!!!
